Dr. Hernandez, triple board certified as a pediatric dentist, behavior analyst and a health and wellness coach, has been in practice for over 30 years after receiving her education from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Also a trained functional medicine provider, she was drawn to finding a better understanding of how lifestyle factors influence health. Her vision now is to integrate knowledge from all of these disciplines to further help the children she sees in her practice every day.
Dr. Hernandez’s skills as a behavior analyst have benefited all of her patients, especially those with unique healthcare needs. As a parent of a son with special needs and a fierce advocate for her patients, she takes pride in successfully treating all who come to her regardless of disability or ability, so that they can receive dental care without fear. Creating safe spaces for her patients is a priority and has become a focus of recent lectures on behavior management she has been conducting around the country.
Age has never stopped Dr. Hernandez from learning and has never slowed down her efforts to bring innovation to her practice, including continuing her integrative health journey with a focus on airway and sleep-related issues in children. Dr. Hernandez has been recognized by the Columbia University College of Medicine for her contribution in the field of special needs dentistry and is also the recipient of the Francis Black Humanitarian Award in Healthcare as a medical provider who is an extraordinary inspiration to others. She and her team at Bergen Pediatric Dentistry provide patients with a personalized and whole-body approach to dentistry combined with her vast expertise of the newest technology in dental care.
